Youth & Yore is an innovative intergenerational exchange of stories designed to bring together the voices and imaginations of communities to create a brand new play! We invite those who are over 70 and those under 11 to join forces in a unique creative journey. We explore local tales, family stories, and beyond, in a warm and friendly environment, all of which will contribute to a brand new piece of theatre that truly reflects the heart of the community.

Youth & Yore is microwave coven’s platform for creating new work. Throughout the year we will run a series of community workshops and develop a new piece of theatre for and with each place. The workshops will be a setting in which participants can meet new friends and share old stories and come up with new ones. We will work together to see how, as a group, we can come up with something that makes the every day extraordinary - what starts as an old family tale could take us to the wild west or outer space! Wherever we end up, there will be a showing to friends and family, and participants will be invited to take part in whichever way they like - as a storyteller, audience member, performer, writer, musician, technician etc - all talents will be celebrated.

After this period of development, microwave coven will take this new story and make it into a professional play!

This exciting venture aims to empower participants by giving them a platform to express their creativity, share their stories and use their voices. Every voice matters, and this workshop provides a unique opportunity for connection, collaboration, and celebration of our collective heritage.

Through a series of activities, discussions and play, participants will discover the joy of storytelling, character development, and the world of creating new theatre; this is a space to forge friendships and celebrate creativity. Join us as we embark on this journey of crafting a brand new family friendly play that reflects the heart and soul of our community.
