Youth Workshop - May Half Term
This is a workshop for young people to get involved in our Youth & Yore project during May half term!
Throughout the year we are collecting stories from communities in Folkestone, in particular those over 75. This half term, a select group of 8-10 year olds will be given the task of merging these real-life experiences with limitless imagination and be a part of the development process of a brand new piece of family theatre about Folkestone!
Join us on this 3 day half term workshop of creative exploration, games, challenges, acting and playwriting where we explore a Folkestone that merges reality with imagination. This is a workshop that promises to be fun and engaging… but there is no telling where the narrative will end up - it will be completely up to you!
Come and join in the experiment - no ideas are off limits!
This workshop will be run by Annabel and other visiting members of Microwave Coven. Annabel has worked for 12 years as an actor and theatre-maker both nationally and internationally, with a particular emphasis on family theatre. She works extensively with young people and has developed many new plays with her own youth theatre in London. She currently works at the Young Actors Theatre Islington (YATI), Beverley School of Performing Arts (BSPA) and has coached LAMDA exams since she graduated from LAMDA in 2012. She has recently been awarded a DYCP by the Arts Council to learn from leading practitioners in the field of intergenerational co-creation and consolidate her experience into a company. This period of development is part of that process.
This project has been funded by Arts Council England and so we are able to subsidise the cost of this for the participants. If this is still a barrier for you please get in touch as we offer a limited number of free spaces.
