Join us for our first ever Youth & Yore workshop, taking place in our hometown
FOLKESTONE
Dive into a world of storytelling with Youth and Yore in this workshop designed to bring together the oldest and youngest in our community. During the Easter holidays we are going to combine a small group of people over 70 and a small group of people under 11 to work together to help create a brand new family play about Folkestone!
In the heart of our home town, we will meet new friends, share old stories and come up with new ones. We will think about the way we see our town and see how we can make the every day extraordinary. What if we could travel back in time? What if The Grand Burstin was taken over by Aliens? Or there was a sea creature hiding in the harbour? What if all of these things were true? Every idea is right and every idea is possible! Using a unique balance of ages we will root ourselves in real stories of truth and wisdom and push our imaginations to their limits at the same time, ending up with something that is both very real and very magical, for all ages.
At the end of our exploration there will be a showing to friends and loved ones, and participants will be invited to take part in this whichever way they like - as a storyteller, audience member, performer, writer, musician, technician etc - all talents will be celebrated - and microwave coven will then develop the unique ideas into a brand new family play!
